James Rintoul OH&S Memorial Scholarship
The Job Safety Skills Society (JSSS) has established a new OH&S scholarship in memory of James Rintoul who died as a result of a workplace accident.
The James Rintoul OH&S Memorial Scholarship is funded by the Job Safety Skills Society to support the completion of an Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Certificate taken through the Faculty of Extension, University of Alberta.
This memorial scholarship will be awarded to a graduate with a High School Diploma from an Alberta high school or be expecting to graduate with a High School diploma from an Alberta high school in the year of application, who meets the required eligibility criteria (available online at www.jobsafetyskills.com) or by contacting the JSSS at 866-513-6876.
For the annual scholarship winner, the costs of enrolling in courses leading to the earning of Faculty of Extension, University of Alberta OH&S Certificate will be paid by the Job Safety Skills Society up to a total of $5,500.
The application deadline is May 1st for each year that the scholarship will be warded.

Glen Armitage Memorial Education Fund
The Glen Armitage Memorial Education Fund was created in 2008 to support a member of a needy rural family in desiring advanced education. Founded by family members of the late Glen Armitage, the fund is designed to serve a rural Alberta family who can pursue Glen’s dream of continuing education.
Number of Awards:
Minimum one per year
Awarded annually for the duration of the foundation
Eligibility Criteria, Applicant must:
- be a Canadian citizen and be an Alberta resident,
- have primary family income from the agriculture sector,
- be in need of financial assistance in pursuing post secondary education
- have demonstrated leadership qualities in family, community, and school involvement
- plan on pursuing further education at a recognized educational institution.
